After a hearty dinner or a hearty Sunday lunch, in Sicily we have an end-of-meal ritual! Coffee or bitter? In reality, we need it to take a break because in a few hours we will start again with something else good. Why do we do it? To "remove the taste" of the food eaten 3 hours before. Well, these Sicilians are fabulous! And above all, sitting at the table for Us does not simply mean eating to fill the stomach; ours is a more refined concept. Sitting at the table for Sicilians means being together, sharing, joking, creating bonds, discussing, agreeing, conversing with the diners or with our guests, and choosing to give you our generosity and sympathy.
The choice of Sicilian bitters
But how important is it to know how to choose an excellent bitter? It is certainly crucial to alleviate the suffering of good digestion. Nutritionists and dieticians explain that a herbal bitter stimulates specific receptors on the taste buds; in this way, it increases the production of saliva, which contains specific enzymes to begin the digestion of food. In Sicily, or rather in Sciacca (AG), we have chosen to "drink differently" with a local bitter to be discovered "sip after sip" . It is called K1 and is the bitter MADE IN SICILY , produced and distributed by the company Perollo di Sciacca (AG) - Sicily - Italy.
K1: Drink Different
The bitter with the taste of the Mediterranean, composed of herbs, flowers, fruits and roots of our island, combined to give you an unforgettable moment of pleasure. A bittersweet taste given by citrus fruits and the intensity of aromatic herbs. Its flavor is enclosed within a taste path that says: "Every sip a path" because it is made up of three Sicilian ingredients that are revealed only by sipping it. We are talking about the Sicilian bitter orange, at the first sip, then a light note of licorice is revealed, at the second sip; to reach its last flavor, the freshness of mint. Therefore, the more you sip, the more you discover the fascinating Sicily!
K1 Name Choice
K1 has an intense mahogany color, and takes its name from the highest mountain in the city of Sciacca (AG) , Mount Kronio . Which is a semi-active volcanic chimney. Mount "Kronio" is linked to Greek mythology, the legend of San Calogero , natural steam stoves, and thermal sulfur waters. Therefore, from its slopes grow bitter herbs, fruits, flowers and roots such as the ingredients of the delicious K1: rhubarb, aloe vera, mint, licorice, gentian, cardamom, cinchona, and bitter orange peel. With a persistent, soft, and enveloping flavor, the bitter K1 is excellent for after dinner, for the end of a meal, for mixing new cocktails, and shots through its balsamic and citrus notes.
K1 and Cucchitella di Sciacca (AG): the winning couple!
For a Sicilian snack or to offer something to your guests, or even to give a different and welcome gift to your friends, we recommend accompanying a small glass of K1 amaro with its beloved local sweet, a nice tray of Cucchitella di Sciacca (AG) , for a triumph of flavours all with a Mediterranean flavour - or rather, all MADE IN SICILY !
