L'amaro di Sciacca: Amaròla

The Bitter of Sciacca: Amaròla

Bitter and sweet have always formed an incredible partnership, so much so that the right combination releases an unforgettable flavor. Knowing how to combine a dessert with a liqueur or a bitter is not something everyone can do. But in Sicily we know well that it is a perfect combination for the pleasure of the palate; each type of sweet or dessert requires its specific and complementary digestive in order to combine the flavor and consistency of the dessert itself, creating harmony on the palate. In fact, when it comes to feasting all together, Sicilians never miss an opportunity to be in company! It is said that for dry desserts it is more advisable to drink a digestive with an intense flavor considering the ingredients contained within the dessert itself. Why drink a bitter? And why choose one with herbs? Experts suggest that if a bitter is obtained from different roots and aromatic herbs it will produce enzymes in the mouth that break down the nutrients. Therefore, from here we begin with a long and peaceful digestion of food.

Sicily, the bitter, the unique ingredient

In Sicily, we like to end a nice meal with a delicious digestive. You should never overlook the importance of knowing how to choose a delicious amaro! Why? Because otherwise we risk leaving a bad memory of the entire meal with a amaro that is either poor or too sugary. Therefore, after an exquisite dinner with your guests at home or in a restaurant, you need to rely on a Sicilian amaro made from excellent Sicilian products following an anti-waste, clean, renewable and fundamental philosophy for the environment. We have respect and love for our Sicilian territory and we only use quality raw materials, often at km 0. For this reason, in Sciacca (AG) a novelty is born! It is called Amaròla and it is the amaro MADE IN SICILY , produced and distributed by the company Perollo of Sciacca (AG) - Sicily - Italy.

Amaròla is a digestive elixir with an intense but soft flavour and a light hint of citrus produced from an infusion of Cerasuola BIO olive leaves. It expresses all the scent and flavour of the Mediterranean !

Amaròla: the bitter of Sciacca (AG)

The only bitter obtained from olive leaves is Amaròla , composed of an infusion of organic Cerasuola leaves, Sicilian sweet orange, lemon, cinchona, aloe vera and cardamom. Its Sicilian character shines through, prepared according to an ancient traditional local recipe that uses the particular Cerasuola olive leaves with which Extra Virgin Olive Oil is obtained. Amaròla is a liqueur with an intense amber color, a sweet flavor with strong citrus hues that leave room for a more herbaceous and aromatic aftertaste. Olive leaves contain therapeutic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antiviral properties. In fact, the ancient inhabitants of Sicily used these infusions of olive leaves to heal themselves, as well as to regulate the digestive system and cholesterol.

Amaròla and Cucchitella di Sciacca (AG): a winning combination!

In addition to sipping and enjoying Amaròla at the end of a meal, you can find it in aperitifs, innovative cocktails, traditional cocktails, or even as an ingredient in savory dishes. For a Sicilian snack or to offer something to your guests, or even to make a different and welcome gift to your friends, we recommend accompanying a glass of Amaròla with its beloved local sweet, a nice tray of Cucchitella di Sciacca (AG) , for a triumph of flavors all with a Mediterranean taste - or rather all MADE IN SICILY !
